Strong Condoms
There’s nothing wrong with being vigorous during sex, or pulling out more stops than you normally would, changing up the positions, maybe using sex aids. But when it comes to condoms there might be a bit of a problem, or a lot of a problem really because security of fit is the number one priority with this type of contraception, and maybe the condom has split one too many times for you already. Luckily, there are some excellent condoms on the market which have been designed with exactly this sort of problem in mind. But how do they need to fit you? What are the important things to ensure that there’s a strong fit? To start with, the right size is important. Condoms are manufactured in small, regular and large and whilst the regular category is naturally going to be the biggest, if you need to go either side of this then do so. Using the wrong size is definitely going to increase the chances of the condom fitting badly.

How can condoms be classed as ‘strong’?

So let’s look at some examples of what’s out there:
#1. Durex Extra Safe. These are slightly thicker, as you would expect, but they also have extra-lubrication. There’s two reasons for this, firstly it means that the condom has more easy movement to it so it’s less likely to stick and get torn or pulled awkwardly and overall it gives a much greater chance of it staying in place. Secondly it helps to preserve the maximum sensation that you would expect of a premium brand like Durex. They take their customer satisfaction very seriously.
#2. Pasante Extra. These ones are a whole extra 1mm thick and also have the extra lubrication too, this seems a popular move by the condom manufacturers and it does make sense when you think about it, to make it easier to slide in and out and keep things oiled. Interestingly, Pasante Extra condoms are a popular choice for anal sex because of how secure and sensation-preserving they are. Plus, if you need extra lube then you can go right ahead and use your own – as long as it’s water-based.
#3. Mates Super Strong. Well, they don’t leave any room for confusion with this name! But what can they offer? These are actually double the strength of standard condoms which takes care of the reassurance element, and they also have extra lube on the inside for maximum comfort.
#4. Lelo Hex have lots to offer here, starting with the Respect XL Condoms. They are large, strong, thin and with maximum sensation. The exact size is stated as 195mm for the length and 58mm for the width, so if you think a little room might suit you then you’ve found the right product here. The standard Lelo Hex condoms are also marketed as ‘strong’ but ‘regular’ size, their length is 180mm and width 54mm. Both are made out of latex so if you need extra lube then make sure it’s a water-based one. These come in bulk packs so if it suits you then you can stock up for a while.
#5. Lifestyle Extra Strength. Another one that doesn’t mess around with the name, this is a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin product. These are some of the thickest condoms available, they’re a regular size and have a secure reservoir tip. LES condoms are one of the most popular ones among gay men and they’re independently tested and approved specifically for that use. It also has non-spermicidal lubricant to ensure maximum comfort without compromising on performance. It’s not recommending one brand over another, but if you’re looking for something manufactured with gay sex in mind then this is probably the product for you.
