Climax Delay Condoms
As we all know, sex is designed to be a pleasurable experience. Of course, it is, evolution hardly wants it to be a chore because if it was then we wouldn’t do it and the human species would be at risk of dying out completely. That’s the bare bones of it, anyway. Plus, our ancestors worked very hard to actually learn what went where and when and how and why, and we can’t let that all that effort go to waste! So – our bodies have been designed to experience sexual pleasure and enjoyment and have been since day dot.
Too soon.
But sometimes this enjoyment can be – how do we say – a little too enjoyable and the main event is somehow over long before you know it, and more importantly, before you intended it to be. It can be downright annoying, but if it happens at a particularly inopportune time then it’s worse. If you’re on your own then hey, that’s life, but if you’re with someone else then it can be a very different scenario. Frustrating? Yes. Embarrassing?
Quite possibly. It’s bound to happen every once in a while, we can’t be perfect at sex alllll the time (especially if we’re new to it or have a new partner) but for a lot of men orgasming too soon is something which happens on a regular basis and it has its own name - premature ejaculation (PE). It’s also called rapid or early ejaculation and premature climax – doesn’t matter what label you assign to it; it all means the same thing. It’s officially defined as: “persistent or recurrent ejaculation with minimal stimulation before, on or shortly after penetration and before the person wishes it.”
If this sounds familiar, and it’s bothering you, then luckily, there are condoms out there which are specifically designed to help with this exact issue because, understandably, this can have a negative effect on both sex and relationships. But if this is you, then don’t worry, you are far from alone. In fact, studies show that up to 39% of men experience PE at some point in their lives and it bothers men far more than it does women, according to data collected.
What can I do to stop this happening?
You’ll be pleased to know that you aren’t stuck in this situation and you don’t need to be approaching your GP just yet. Using a condom is a great way to delay ejaculation; it makes absolute sense to have an extra layer between you and the stimulation and it’s virtually guaranteed to slow things down a little. Normal-style condoms might help a bit (or a lot, who knows?) but there are condoms out there which are specifically designed for this situation and they’re definitely the best ones to try. There are a range of these available so if one doesn’t suit, just move along to the next.
What’s the difference?
Firstly, climax delay condoms are just a little thicker than normal. Don’t worry, it won’t be like pulling on a woolly sock, you’re not going to lose sensation entirely, but the thicker texture just dulls it slightly, aimed at keeping you in control more than without one. Texture aside, these condoms typically also have a 5% benzocaine lubricant already applied to them. If you aren’t familiar with what benzocaine is, it’s used as a local anaesthetic (and pain-reliever in different circumstances). It works by temporarily numbing the area to which it is applied.
Benzocaine solution or cream inside the condom de-sensitises to help delay ejaculation and prolong erection during intercourse. It’s perfectly safe to use and can be very helpful. The climax control lubricant is released by body heat after the condom is rolled onto the penis so that the penis head is desensitized, allowing you to withstand much more stimulation before climaxing. Don’t worry, your partner won’t lose any sensation, they’re just going to get to enjoy you for that bit longer!
Lidocaine is another lubricant, or spray, that’s sometimes used and has exactly the same effect.
Mutual Climax Condoms
Exactly as the name suggests, these condoms are designed not just to enhance one person’s pleasure, but both. Obviously climax delay condoms benefit both partners purely by virtue of the fact that they encourage longer lasting intercourse, but mutual climax condoms have a thicker texture plus they actually have specific features for female pleasure too. Namely, external raised ribs and dots which – yep, you’ve guessed it – give extra stimulation which leads straight to more intense orgasms and pave the way to a mutual climax! So, extra sensation for her and prolonged sexual excitement for you – an ideal solution all round, we say.
Don’t let PE ruin your sex life. You can chop and change which climax delay condoms you use to find the best ones for you and your partner. Then you can relax safe in the knowledge that you’ve got the extra time on your side.
