Sensitive condoms
There are far more positives to focus on where condoms are concerned, than negative. We all know their benefits and how far they go to protect us from unwanted pregnancies and STIs. The latter arguably being the most important. There is a huge range on the market these days, allowing people to pick and choose which type suits them best. There are multiple sizes available, condoms designed for gay men, novelty condoms if you want to inject a little bit of light humour into the bedroom, lubricated, non-latex, etc. You’ll find the whole collection here.
But if a man was going to complain about something, more often than not it will be the inevitably reduced sensation when a condom is worn compared to not wearing one. And yes, it’s an extra layer over the penis, but these days there’s a condom especially manufactured to be extra thin in order to maximise sexual sensitivity, rather obviously called the ‘sensitive condom’. Using one of these does away with the potential drawbacks of using one at all. These are premium condoms, made from latex and they are ultra-thin, designed to give heightened sensations, sensitivity and excitement – you can see why they have been developed – and they add another dynamic to the already sophisticated condom market out there.
What is available?
If you need a quick guide as to what your options are in this category, then look no further, we’ve put together some of the best right here.
Pasante Sensiva. This condom has a thickness of just 0.03mm, making it one of the thinnest condoms around, as you can imagine. It’s non-latex, instead made out of polyurethane (thin plastic – sounds painful but trust us, it isn’t!) rather than rubber, making it a perfect choice for those who have an allergy to latex. It also comes with a non-spermicidal lubricant already applied for a smoother feel. There’s also the Pasante Xtra condom which is pre-lubricated and it’s actually 25% thinner than the standard latex condom. These are both designed to provide an exceptionally sensitive experience, they are straight walled and have a teat end.
Durex Close Feel. Moving on, we have this one from Durex – one of the biggest brand names in the world for condoms. A Close Feel condom is just 0.07mm thick, making it slightly thicker than its Pasante Sensiva cousin, but not by much. This one is manufactured out of clear latex, it has a reservoir end and it comes with non-spermicidal lubricant, making it easier to glide in and out. Also this one in their range.
But these aren’t the only sensitive condoms on the market. You’d be forgiven for thinking that a thin condom is, well, a thin condom…..? But if we look further into this specific market, we come up with products from well known, condom brand Trojan. What they have to offer fits neatly into this rather niche category. They actually make a Trojan Sensitivity Pack so you can experiment with multiple condoms and find the right one for you. This includes:
- The aptly named ‘Thintensity’ condom. This one is 25% thinner than a standard condom. It’s straightforward and does what it says on the tin. Or packet, really.
- Her Pleasure Ecstasy. Interestingly named, this sensitive condom has been developed to have an exceptionally textured surface to boost female pleasure in particular. Having a raised ribs or dots (or both!) texture can make the experience more pleasurable for both parties, but especially women. And it’s nice to have a product that is quintessentially male, designed with women in mind. It’s made out of latex, has a natural shape and comes with pre-applied UltraSmooth Premium lube for maximum comfort. Definitely one for the shopping list if you’re planning a romantic evening or weekend away. For her birthday, perhaps?
- Go Ultra-Thin. This condom is exactly as it sounds; a straightforward, teat-ended, smooth surfaced, sensitive condom.
- Trojan Ultra-Thin. At just 0.05mm thick, this condom skates close to the Pasante Sensiva condom which is 0.03mm. It offers a natural sensation, enhanced by silicone lubricant for maximum comfort and smoothness.
As you can see, there’s not much difference between these sensitive condoms, they are all manufactured by major players in the condom market. Which means that as well as being so thin that they’re barely there, they still offer the robust protection that a thicker condom would. You really don’t have to sacrifice pleasure for safety where these are concerned. If you find yourself wondering how you can enhance your sexual sensations during intercourse, then try one of these condoms out. In fact, try a few! You never know which one you might prefer. Most of them even come pre-lubricated so you don’t have to worry about whipping out the lube before things really get going, the smooth gliding sensation that you want is already in place.
