Flavoured condoms
The function of a condom is to protect. Protect against STIs and unwanted pregnancy, they’ve been around since before cave people left their caves and its straightforward design has served it well for thousands of years. It’s not complicated, by placing the penis inside a sheath you are preventing the sperm from entering the woman’s body, which is exactly why people use them to keep safe during sex. Obviously they have evolved since their early days, and even since the Romans used them for their infamous orgies, but the basic structure remains the same. What has slowly appeared are the little evolutions that make up our – now sophisticated – condom market. There is a plethora of them to choose from, big, small, lubricated, non-lubricated, with spermicidal lubricant, latex, non-latex, etc. So it’s no surprise then that there are now novelty condoms available too. Not the sort of novelty condoms that you pay a pound for in a train station, but novelty condoms that have been developed to provide exactly the same robust protection as a standard condom. You can have the fun without taking any risks!
As they sound, it’s not a complicated concept. There are different options, such as vanilla, wildberry, strawberry and even cola. If you aren’t sure which option to go with, then why not try out a bulk pack where you can experiment with a few different ones? And if you’re totally new to the flavoured condom scene then you should definitely check out more than one. You never know – you might love strawberries in general life, but hate the taste on condoms! Perhaps something new might be a better bet for you, a little bit of exploration for tantalising new scents. Time for some serious fun in the bedroom, just buy in bulk and go wild!
When/why would I use them?
Oral sex is something that men are great fans of. It would take something peculiar for a man to turn down oral sex. But maybe the partner isn’t so keen, maybe they find it distasteful, maybe they’re worried about contracting an STI or both. There’s nothing wrong with being hesitant about the whole process. But this has provided the condom manufacturers with a new niche opportunity, why not have condoms that mask any unpleasant odours and that actually have a nice taste? Bingo! The worries are understandable, but now there’s a solution! And a pleasurable one at that. Plus, they have the simplest possible design – you can’t go wrong.
They are generally made from latex, so be careful if you have an allergy. Barrier methods of contraception should always be checked out carefully, and if you do find that you can’t use one particular type then don’t feel left out, you will always have alternative options! Lots of condoms come in a mixed, bulk pack so a little experimentation is always on the cards, and who doesn’t love introducing a bit of something new into bedroom antics?
And it isn’t just condoms that can be used in a flavourful fashion, dental dams have also embraced this innovation. If you’re not familiar with the concept, here’s a quick explanation: dental dams are pieces of latex material that come in squares and rectangles and are used to create a barrier between mouth and body. They aren’t made to use in place of a condom, but they do protect against other types of oral sex on different parts of the body. It’s important to remember that these are single use only, don’t be tempted to turn it over and carry on using it because it’s already been exposed to bodily fluids. If you have nothing else to protect you during oral sex with the penis, then you can use them, but they aren’t designed for this so they shouldn’t be your first choice. The scent always matches the flavour and you can get them in 10 inches or 6 inches, depending on what you want to use them for. It’s vitally important however that you use them properly, so be very careful to keep them in place. For this reason, it’s usually worth buying the 10in ones because it gives you more room to play with. And always use a fresh one if you change positions, or if it slips out of place. Better to be safe than sorry!
It’s perfectly fine to avoid oral sex if you aren’t comfortable with it and you shouldn’t be obliged to do anything. BUT - if you aren’t keen on oral sex for whatever reason, then you really should give flavoured condoms and dental dams a try. They protect against STIs and unwanted pregnancy as effectively as other types of condoms and have a pleasant taste to go along with them. And something that promises extra pleasure is always worth investigating!
